Leaving March 14 from San Diego, CA, you will be riding through some remarkably beautiful sections of this great country of ours before arriving in St. Augustine, FL around May 5. Cycle America offers a coast to coast ride divided into nine cross state segments. You can choose to do them all or one of the nine. "Each state offers unique history and beauty, from the lush mountains and forests of the West, across the grasslands of the Great Plains, to the lakes and farms of the Great Lake states and the quaint towns of New England." info@CycleAmerica.com or call 800-245-3263

Ed,
You are correct and they do a good job as well.  Just depends on what one is looking for on such a trip.  Hassle free is what I offer.
Ed, could not help but notice you were not listed as a rider this year.  Missed a chance go meet you.

Who leads the cycle america ride, have you ridden with them before and are recommending them?  I see that they are doing the northern route, v. the southern route - what's your opinion on the options?

Hi Bubba,it is great to see this ride back on the message board. From what I hear this will be a coast-to-coast to remember!!! A personal caterer will follow the group everystep of the way??? NICE !!! I met many happy campers who were pampered by Bubba this year and I believe this ride will be superb....fewer riders means more attention on each rider.there was many times I was walking around camp by myself and would hear the laughter and positive energy coming from the "BUBBA" section and wish I was a part of it.

Also a special thanks goes out to Bubba for offering a ride to Sanford for our injured rider.he crashed on day 3 and broke his wrist and fractured his knee. You bend over backwards for every cyclist in need wether they use your services or not!!there was a couple times when I was dragging my butt & wishing my tent was set-up already (especially in Kenansville).Hats off to you my friend....GOOD JOB !!!

I hope this message board in the future will have members commenting on these rides who actually participate and not armchair cyclist who throw poison darts at something they have no part in at all.I hope all of the negative comments in the past are forever gone.

Yes there are other options out there for a coast-to-coast.....but please leave all the negative comments during confessional's with your priest.....

I, too, chose to set up my own tent on this past ride.  But I did need two tent stakes which I forgot.  Bubba to the rescue.  I asked if I could buy them from him and his response was "just bring them to me at the end of the ride", which I was gald to do.

If I could get the time off work I would ride with you across the country.  Always a dream of mine.  Maybe someday.

Here's +1 to anyone considering Bubba!

Just for comparison, a friend and I are planning on riding along or fairly near the southern tier route from San Diego to the east coast (either Florida or North Cariolina) during the late February through April time frame, and estimate that our non-supported costs will be around $4,000 each.

It sounds as if Bubba might be putting on a very, very no-hassle trip in comparison and well worth the cost for the extra security and amenities.

After having six flats on the CNC this year, coast to coast ought to be a REAL experience!!

Does Carolina Tailwinds have a cross country tour? I thought they rode just in NC, VA and MD. iNC, VA and MDn North Carolina, Virginia & Maryland.

The price for Bubba's Pampered trip is more than fair.....unfortunately the timing is not the best for me since I own a bicycle shop. The spring is my busy time....I also am planning a Coast-to-Coast to end in NC but with an earlier start time late Jan-early March.

The budget I am working with for this "hopefully" successfull solo trip is a considerable amount!!! Being pampered the whole way with a personal caterer, tent set-up,smaller group, etc. means Bubba will be pampering even more than he does now...if the time was right for me the little extra $$$ it would cost to be catered too is in my opinion well worth it.

So in my opinion for what it is worth if you have the time and the dough "just Do It" smile

This may not interest some of you as it is all motels with no camping. Thanks for the pics as I was unable to attend CNC this year.

The cost for two people is $5903.00 each plus two catered meals a day. But it is coast to coast. Below is a testimonial from someone in Flordia who did the Western Tour.

Dear AbB Crew, I just wanted you to know what a wonderful time I had on the Western States Tour. Your staff was outstanding, positive, extremely helpful and upbeat. I would love to find a way to participate in the future. Everyday on the road was so rich. I learned more from just hanging around at mechanics than I have learned in over two years at my local bike shop. My 4:47 century was a high point, but not as high as Mt. Rose which was a challenge for this flatlander. Whew boy!! Thanks for a great experience and wonderful memories. When I am leaning back in my office chair and staring at the ceiling, my secretary won't have a clue what I'm thinking about - but you will! All the best!

Ed,
Once again thank you so much for all your postings.  They have certainly increased interest in my Coast 2 Coast Tour.  Honest!
You are certainly great as being my advertising agent.  Honest!
I am so glad you made your last posting.  Honest!
It will, once again, point out to others what a great value my Coast 2 Coast Tour is.  Honest!
The tour price you quoted in your last posting averages "115 plus" miles per day, Their words, not mine.  Honest!
For someone wishing to RACE across America, 33 days YIKES, that would be a great option.  Honest!
Again Ed, thank you so much for all your research and posting other tours especially your last posting.  Honest.
All their cross country tours are priced over $11,000 per person.  Honest!
Sure makes my Coast 2 Coast Tour a real value.  Honest!
Really Ed, I can hardly thank you enough.  Keep up the great work on my behalf.   Honest!
So, no wonder I did not meet you on CNC, you were not there.  It's ALL Good and largely because of you.  Honest!

I went to the America by Bicycle (A by B) website and looked as the cost for their 50+ day ride across America and did a comparison to what Bubba told me about the anticipated cost of his 50+ ride from coast to coast.  It appears that you could save thousand of dollars by doing his ride instead of the A by B ride.  And let me add I have never stayed with Bubba but have chatted with him for the last 8 CNC rides.  Yes Bubba Its All Good.

I feel that if you are going to spend the kind of money necessary with either Bubba or A by B you should do your own research before making a decision who to go with.  Having said that, I would go with Bubba for the cost savings and the pampering that I know you will get with him and his crew.

Choosing the Coast 2 Coast Tour which is right for you is like purchasing a new vehilce.  Just depends on which options you want.
The biggest difference between my Coast 2 Coast Tour vs. Adventure Cyclist is the PAMPERING and meals.  With mine, you Ride and Relax. I provide all the camping equipment allowg with the daily set-up and take down.  Also fresh towels and wash cloth daily.  Nice chairs.  Cold drinks and snacks.  EZ-Ups to protect you from the weather.  Cell phone charging.  Bicycle work station.  Oh yea, even laundry service.   With theirs, you do all the work.
With me, your breafkasts and dinners are prepared fresh each day by a professional caterer.  With them, you will be doing all the cooking and the cleaning.
With me, you will have several nights in a hotel to break up the tent experience (included) with them, all camping.
With me, you get a T-shirt but a jersey, riding jacket, and lots of other Coat 2 Coast gear.  With them, it's a T-Shirt.
Please understand, I am in no way "slamming" Adventure Cyclist.  They do a great job no doubt.  I am simply pointing out the differences.
Yes, my tour cost more money.  You have to decide if the additional services is worth it.  That of course is a decision  only you can make.
Remember you Ride and Relax.  Dip your rear wheel into the Pacific Ocean and your front wheel into the Atlantic Ocean and I will do everything in between.  Yes, Ride and Relax.
No matter which tour option you select, and certainly there are lots to choose from, I hope it provides you the adventure of a life-time.  Enjoy the tour, ride safe, and enjoy our wonderful country like you can only do from the seat of a bicycle.
After all....It's ALL Good!

Remember the advice about feeding the trolls. Although, you are deftly handling the responses and aptly deflecting troll turds, all in all it's a beautiful thing. Artfully done.

Steve,
So, you got the TOTAL picture.  Good man.
Would you be interested in 1/2 the tour?  I had resisted offering half tours do to the logistics for the person getting there and back.  Ends up, 1/2 way is really close to San Antonio, TX.
Email me if you might be interested.
Good luck with your move.  Hope it works for you.

I have mixed emotions about constant advertising on the message board. But I guess times are changing. I'm a little long in the tooth to bike across our wonderful nation but do enjoy reading about all the different options.
